Week 3

I am continuing putting ideas into my sketchbook, but this week in particular I was looking at colour to represent a crowed area. I have been thinking of ways to simplify the image of a crowd and using colour was  the first method I chose. First, I used colouring pencils to mark the page. This led to paint. the colours I used have murky tones to them, I felt this was more realistic. I will definitely continue this way of dealing with my theme, working with colour and paint is something I'm really interested in.

A crowd,  showing how colour and bush strokes can represent the busyness and confinement.
During the week I have been researching artists. I found an artist called Chelsea Tyler Wood.  Apart from the obvious connection to my idea, her work, due to the colour and realistic quality to her paintings they caught my attention. I love the heightened use of colour in the figures, how they look to be squeezed and pushed into the box. She deals with the female figure and how it is used in art. I found her work so interesting.
